One Day In the Life...

Tuesday, March 13, 2007

So this is what a Monday can be like in LA...

Get up crack-o-dawn, jump on the computer - working on the Airhead Director's book image collection for a few early hours, print out letters and package DVD reels to send to Prod Company on a rather interesting 'pie in the sky' project, but hell I post 'em anyway.

Go to a meeting with a reputable and wonderful exec' Andy at a cookin' Production Company to discuss feature film projects. Fruitful and encouraging outcome...

Lunch at Joan's on 3rd. Cool - parallel universe action happening here- like Jones the Grocer in Wollahra in fact...sit, eat, drink coffee and watch the passing parade for a while. Afternoon shopping at an Art Store for Director's book 'stuff', a car dealer for coolant and K-mart for distilled water (getting ready for the summertime car jam sessions).

Play with the neighbour's brand new puppy (staffy-cross) called DOZZER who's cute as a button...But am invited to go to a Live Gig...so Jac and I jump in the car and oooofffff we go!

Drive down to Pico Blvd - and walk into the MINT, and who's playing??? what song???

It's Tex and Charlie singing 'Whenever It Snows'...They were playing MY song! - and both are wearing the shirts from the shoot- it created such a sense of Deja Vu (miss you tho' Don). Such a shame Janneke and Rory weren't there too.

The boys are in the States for South By Southwest. Did a Gig last night, and off to Texas tomorrow (then onto New York).

But for now we lucky souls gathered at The Mint get the secret treat in the mix of a brilliant OZ Song Circle Gig. Check it out at http://www.myspace.com/ozcity

What an excellent night of live music organised by Ian Hopkinson and promoted by Advance (Exp Pat Pal Club).

This is the Aus' creative Mafia at it's very best - a gaggle of brilliant musicians including T & C, Andy Clockwise, D Henry Felton and Chantelle Barry, with the (backing) audience hum of Aussie twang all around.

Chatted with the lovely Leah, Katherine, Michael, Doug, Simon, Emily, Kate, Kelly... to name but a few there on the night...

and so after the gig..back to her pad for a party: Aus style - A late night BBQ. Relaxed night in the Hollywood Hills/Studio City, hanging with my own kind - a crew of creative minds and fun souls...

But now it's 1.30 am! and I have my driving test at 08.30 am..so better get some kip and get ready to drive for the 'man'.

Update - PASSED the TEST!
