High on the hill in Haight-Ashbury

Saturday, January 20, 2007

What a day. Woke in Jay's wonderful Haight/Ashbury apartment - just beautiful. on a classic SF hill - and in the thick of the fun - yet quiet. Went to SFMOMA, (Modern Art Gallery) and was completely blown away by the Anselm Keifer- Heaven & Earth exhibition.... his work is astounding - plus all the other exhibitions too..the Alexander Girard design work, Phil Collins video installations (all hail the Smiths!) and Diago Riviera/ Frida Kahil paintings, then there was the extensive photography exhibitions from the in-house collection.

After all the art I craved fresh air and a long walk so I took myself off up to Point Bonita Lighthouse, driving over the wonderful Golden Gate. The day was clear and sunny, no fog at all. The climb was brilliant and the views astounding...Never knew how treacherous the entrance to the Harbour was...

Tonight we went to a vegan restaurant - 'Yah' it's San Fran after all. After my shitaki mushroom and pumpkin soup (don't ask!) and a bottle of Francis Ford Copolla red wine we went dancing to a Sengalese nightclub dancing, drinking ginger marguaritas with my new found San Fran pals.. love this town! Even if I did get a parking ticket for cocking my wheels the wrong way!!! so much for San Fran tourism..

But now it's time to sleep.....................zzzzzzzzzzzzz
